The Makino Station
The timber, goods, passenger, and parcel traffic at the above station is increasing so much that the necessity for the appointmeat of some authorised person to meet the public requirements is daily becoming more apparent. At present the Makino people are almost entirely dependant on the local postmaster, Mr Henby Penbebthy, for any work connected with the receipt and delivery of parcels and goods. He, with his customary good nature, has always done his best to receive and deliver goods and parcels, but as the labors are becoming greater he finds the task interferes too much with his business to permit of his continuing the practice gratuitously. In our opinion the oase could be met by appointing Mr Penberthv to act, subject to the control of the Feilding stationmaster, with sufficient remuneration to pay for the time occupied in the public Bervice.
