♦ HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIONS.

[PER UNITED PREPS ASSOCIATION."! W KLLiNGTONi This Day. Four or five members, who were not present yesterday, took the oath and their seats. These included Sir Julius Yogel and Mr Ormond. The Premier then rose and said :— Sir, I desire to ask the permission of the House to make a statement as to the intentions of the Goverment. The Government, sir, have taken into consideration the result of the late elections, and and the general position of parties in this House, and have come to the conclusion that under the circumstances it is their, duty to tender their resignation to his Excellency. I have therefore nothing further in that directon to inform the House, but simply that we hold office until the appointment of our successors. I therefore have to move that this House do now adjourn till lhursday next at 2 , o'clock. • Mr Montgomery did not rise for the purpose of objecting, but pointed out that both the House and the country would be anxious to know if a Ministry had lpeen formed by Tuesday night. Sir George Grey : I think, sir, it might possibly be a relief to the House tb know the name of the gentleman who might ke entrusted with the task of forming a Ministry if the House met on Tuesday. Mr Seddon then pointed out that there could be no amendment, and ho suggested that the question should be put that the House adjourn till Thursday. The House adjourned till Thursday, the 14th in-tant, at 2 p.m.
