Opening of Parliament Today
«. (per united press association.) Wkllington, This Day. Parliament will be opened by Commission this afternoon. The Commissioners will be the Hon. Sir Wm. F-tzherbert and the Hons. R. Oliver, G. M. Waterhouse, and Sir G. Whitmore. The members of the Lower House, on assembling in their own Chamber, will be summoned to attend the Commissioners in the Legislative Council Chamber. The Commission will then be read, and Parliament be declared formally open. The mem bers of the Lower Honse will then be instructed to return to their chamber, elect a Speaker, and present him for approval to the Governor, who will on a future day inform Parliament of the reasons which have induced him to call it together. His Excellency will probably attend and deliver the usual speech on Friday afternoon. Later. Immediately after the opening of Parliament this afternoon member will be sworn in and a Speaker elected, after which the House will adjourn until tomorrow, when the Premier will make a statement as to the intentions of the Government.
