I At our sale of stock at Feilding on the ( 3rn instant the attendance was very good , and the bidding brisk. The -prices realised were: Beef, £6 10s; 3 yr-old steers, £3 15s; 2-yr-old steis, £3 ss-
sstore cows, £1 10s to £2 ; milch cows, I £4; yearlings, 28s to 30s ; calves, 15s to ■ 20s ; fat wethers, 12s ; store wethers, 9s 9d ; fat ewes, 9s 4d to 9s 8d ; ewes in lamb, 10s 6d ; pigs (weaners), 7s ; horses, dull of sale. We notice a decidedly better tone in the market, and nil stock offered showed an upward tendency, especially young cattle. Wellington, August 5. Hassell and Co. report market overstocked with potatoes, and dillicult to quit at 55s per ton. Oats are firm at last quotations. No maize offering. Prime salt butter is in demand, but inferior is quite unsaleable. Onions are scarce. Bran and pollard have advanced 10s per ton. Fruit has come to hand freely and realised satisfactory prices. Apples, !0h to 16s ; oranges, lOs to I3s ; mandarins, 15s to *17s 6d ; lemons, 30s per case. Poultry is iv demand, but veiy little offering.
