Improvement in the Customs Revenue
(PEB UNITED PBKBS ASSOCIATION.) *. r VX^LLJNGTON, This Day. The Customs revenue for ,the colony for the last month is of- a muoh "more favourable nature than that of the pre-. ceeding 1 month. Last month's retufrn-s are not yet complete, as three or four small returns have yet f o r come in, but the amount so far is hear LISIjOUO, ab against L103,127 17s 6d for Juue, while for the corresponding month last year it was Ll 10,030 12s 9d. At the four principle centres last month the amounts collected were — Auckland, L28.4()6 Os Id ; Wellington, L22,665 8s; Christchurch, L20.183 13s 9d ; Dunedin, L37.796 14s sd. In each bf these four towns the amount is largely in excess of the previous month being between LSOOO and LtiOOO at Auckland, • hristchurch, and Wellington, and at Dunedin there is an improvement of over LBOOO. The beer duty returns are also favourable.
