At the four principle centres last month the amounts collected were — Auckland, L28.4()6 Os Id ; Wellington, L22,665 8s; Christchurch, L20.183 13s 9d ; Dunedin, L37.796 14s sd. In each bf these four towns the amount is largely in excess of the previous month being between LSOOO and LtiOOO at Auckland, • hristchurch, and Wellington, and at Dunedin there is an improvement of over LBOOO. The beer duty returns are also favourable.
