It is, however, understood that extra stringent measures will be taken to prevent it spreading to this colony, and that the Government will not enforce a general quarantine. Of 450 natives who attended Piiriliaka from Waimate Plains, 4tX) are known to have returned to their own homes. The shop and dwelling house of Joseph Barnard, cabinet maker, Greytown, was destroyed by fire last night. The build ing was owned by the Wellington Trust and Loan Company, and insured in the colonial for £150. Stock insured in the South British for £100. Auckland This Day.
