BETTTEB'S TKLKGBAMS. London. July 21. The homeward mails yia Suez and Brindisi, p*r steamship potosi, from Melbourne, June 12, were delivered here to-day. A popular demonstration in support of the franchise reform movement was held id Hyde Park to day, and attended by an enormous crowd of people, the number being estimated at one hnndred thousand. The approaches to the park were blocked, and the stroets in the west end impassable for hours, but no difficulty was experienced in the maintenance of order. The European conference on Egyptian affairs resumed its sittings to-d*y. and now stand J adjourned indefinitely. No information has yet transpired as to the decisions arrived at prior to the adjournment. . It has transpired that at an interview with Lord Derby to-duy Tawhiao resented the Colonial Secretary with a petition from the Maoris for the restoration of their rights.
