I . . . „r-w-n .«, ...... I The nominations for. the Manawatu i Seat took place at noon yesterdny, at the Town Hall, Pulmerston. Mr Amos Burr was proposed by Mr S. M. Ge, rg© and seconded byMr "William Waußh. ,-.'... : ( Mr Donglas Hastings Macarthur was proposed by Mr James Lintoa and seconded by Mr H. L. Sherwill. In proposing Mr Macarthnr, Mr Linton said he did so for the. best of reasons viz., that he had .been before the electors in various prominent positions in the county for a number of years, and the best possible claim for support was the fact that he had been successful in representing the district in local politics. In seconding the nomination, Mr Sher-will-said Mr Macarthnr had now been before the electors for the last ten years, and no one could say that he had not displayed a groat amount of ability and tact, and had proved himself worthy of the most hearty support. He would draw the attention of the electors to the possible position of the constituency' if Mr Fraser were returned, and if. Mr Stevens got in for Etngitikei and Mr Wilson for Foxton, there would then be three Bangitikei members, and the Manawatu would be in a worse position than before. Mr Donald Fraser was proposed by Mr J. C. Sly and seconded by Mr J. E. Forsler-Pratt.
