The Bangitikei Election

«■ Mb Bbucb, who is a candidate for the Rangitikei seat, will address the electors in the Public Hall here on Friday evening next. Aa this gentleman has the reputation of being a remarkably good speaker, whose views and opinions on political and other matters are well expressed, a good attendance is assured. Mr Bhtjce is now the only rival candidate to Mr Stevens, and his position is of far greater importance than when Mr Abewbight was in the field. His chances of election were then to all appearance comparatively small. In fact it was only the most sanguine of nis supporters that hoped at all to see him near the head of the poll Mr Abewbiqht having thrown in his support, with that of his followers, alters the aspect of affairs altogether. That a number of gentlemen who promised their support to Mr Abkwright will go over to Mr Stevens we are perfectly certain. We are also aware of a number of voters who were supporting Mr Bbuck as against Mr Abkwbight who will now favor Mr Stevens, so that neither of the candidates or their respective committees can hare any very clear knowledge of the strength of their several following. One tiling is cer.tain, which is that a vote either way may turn the scale. Having this know, ledge, the supporters of each candidate ought to bring every elector to the polling booth, but as the interest promises to be intense, we do not expect the electors will require much coaxing.
