Mr Burr at Taonui

« Mr Amos Burr delivered au address at the Bunnythorpe school on Saturday evening last. There was a very good attendance of electors, and Mr Wm. Bailey took the chair. Mr Burr gave a lengthened address, severely criticising the late Ministry and proposing a reduction of the education vote by not allowing chili dren to attend school after 14 years of age, and advocating less expenses in the various boards of education and the various departmental branches in connection with the eduoatioual department. He would not wish to injure the country schools, but thought too much was spent in the large centres of population on education, to the detriment of the coimt try schools. He also proposed to nation* alize 10,000,000 acres of land by oharging only oue shilling per acre for the first seven years, two shillings for the second seven years, three shillings for the third seven years, and #L the end of the fourth •even years, making 28 years altogether, the rent should be four shillings per acre and that was to be the highest rent.
