The Manawatu Seat
•♦ : — : — . ■ In to-day's issue Mr Macarthue announces the times and places where he will lay his political views and opinions before the electors of the M anawatu. We would draw the attention of electors to the fact that outsiders are attempting by indirect means to put up another local candidate to oppose Mr Macaethue. Whether this is being done with a view to splitting tbq' votes and allowing a thira candidate to slip in. or, whether to " pick up the plums " that are ,50 freely scat- , tered about during a freely contested , election, is not i very clear. The only opinion any' sensible elector can' have is that <the leva we have to do with non- : resident members in future the better. , We have plenty of good men from which ( to make a selection, without going out of < the electorate. It must be satisfactory to Mr Macabthub to notice that nearly every, .man, of position or, influence, fit to be a candidate against him, on the roll, has signed the requisition asking him to come forward. ;
