The present flood has swept away the Toad, and to-day the crumbling bank of the river, within two feet of the Railway Line, is now being shifted, hut if the flood continues it is feared the .Ngnruroro will break into the upp-j-r end of the Ahuriri lagoon, and find an outlet at Napier. Should these fears be realised enormous damage will * be done to town and suburban properties.
