[PEB UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.! Nelson, This Day. A fire occurred at Appleby last night, in which a large dairy, the property of Mrs Knight, was completely destroyed. Dunedin, This Day. A ploughman employed at Pareora Station was killed yesterday afternoon by the dray he was driving falling on him, in crossing a creek at the Taieri Lake Station. The man's name is not known by the police. Mr De Lautor has intimated he has no intention of seeking re-election for Mount Ida. Chbistchubch, This Day. There is no definite information as to Sir Julius Vogel's reply re the Stanmore seat, which Mr Pilliett will resign in his faror. The Invercargill cleared for London with 11,276 carcases, and 604 hindquarters of mutton- besides wheat, &c. Welungton. This Day. The steamer Aorangi sailed for London ria Kio Janiero at noon to-day. Among her passengers are Mrs Atkinson (wife of the Premior), Colonel Macartney, Drs Kemp, and Muller, and Captain W. H. Colbeck. The nomination for the East Coast election is fixed for the 9th pros., and the poll will be taken on the 16th. A private cablegram received by the United Press Association for Hobart this morning states that Mr Fergus, M.H.B. for Wakatipu, had met with an accident and had been confined to his bed for some time. The report that he intended resigning his seat is untrue. The railway authorities here state there is no truth whatever in the I'hristchurch telegram that two trains met in the Lytteltoh tunnel yesterday morning.
