The Queen's Birthday

Saturday was observed as a holiday in Palmerston, but in Feildin«*ail the places of business were open oxcopt the Banks. Yesterday Feilding kept holiday, Bono of (he shops being opon, and the employ, s were all out enjoying themselves according to their tastes or inclinations. Very few people went to the Wanjanm l?accs, from Feilding, and very little interest of any kind was expressed in them. Celebrating the Queen's Birthday on two separate days, at places only a few miles apart appears lo us somewhat singular. The omission on the part of the volun teers to take any notice whatever of the occasion may be accounted for by the fact of the official (gubernatorial) celebration having been postponed to the' 28th of June, when we may reasonably exppct. to see them burning some powder ill testimony of their loyalty.
