I (feom oub own cobbespondent.) •.',. Bulls, May 6. ; The organ mentioned some time since - as having been ordered by Mr Robert Smith for use in the temple recently built by him for the services of the soldiers of. the Salvation Army h*s arrired, and Mr Williams, of Sandon, has been engaged to erect it. .' v ■ In spite of a biting cold wind on Wednesday afternoon and evening, the tea meeting and entertainment forth* purpose of raising funds to line Bfr. Andrew's Church was a big success. The tea was pronounced by air as the best thing of the sort ever seen in the district, and well deserved the name of - " High Tea." There were six tables pre-r sided over as follows:— Bachelor's, tabte. —Misses Mirchell and Wilkins, assisted-, by A. Wilkins, M. Williams and M* Tricker. Table No. I— Mesdames Therby and Tricker. No. 2— Mrs Abflik ham and Miss Gordon. No. 3 -Me*. dames Harper and Hayward. No. 4-^« Mesdames Lopp and Ellery. No. 6-rr Mrs George Evans. The great feature in the tea was the quantity of game of all sorts, hams, sucking pig, &c. in fact, everything that would be required for a first-class dinner. The tables were ad ■ beautifully decorated with flowers, and the bare walls had not been forgotten.. their unsightly ness having been relieved by the profuse use of evergreens, nikau palms, and flowers. At ten minutes past fire, all the seats being filled, the Key. J. U. Dodwell called for silence, when the choir and all present rose and •• sang grace, after which the attack on the many good things provided was begun: At half past six the hall was cleared for the entertainment. Long before eight tho hall was full, and bj the time the curtain rose every seat was occupied, and many persons were standing. The following programme was successfully carried out :— Tho songs "The parson aud the clerk," by Mr L. Abraham, " Forgiven," by Mrs Watson, " Maid of Athens," by X 1 r Hogg, and "The picture on tlie wall," by Mr McLean, received well desorved encores. M Tho Tar's fare^: well *' was rendered by Mr Nicholas in excellent style. The farce was really well performed and kept the house in roars of laughter. The scenery, which; was the work of Mr '. McLoan, wag capitally done. Mr P. J. M anscll, acting as stage manager, performed his work in a highly satisfactory manner. The performance was brought to a close in the usual loyal manner, by all present joining in singing " God save the Queen." The .'. cash taken at the door amounted to £23,'.-" aud this will be greatly swelled by the • • proceeds of tho sale of tickets, which should bring the cross total to nearly £30. I am pleased to be able to state that : Mr C. L. McLean, who has been seriously "' ill for some time, is now able to get about though still very weak.
