It has been ascertained that the Oriental Bank Corporation is indebted to the , ten associated banks of the colony to the amount of £50,000, of which, £34,000 is covered by securities. | R. B. Fletcher, late miaing manager at Sandhurst, who was committed for trial on March 18 on several chnrges cf embezzlement, was acquitted to-day on the first charge. • The hearing of the remaining charges is still proceeding. Albany, May 5. The F. & O. steamship Parraroatta with inwaid mails, via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, April 4th, arrived in King George's Sound this morning. Stdnbt. May 7. The excitement which has been mnzritestod in this city ninoe the news of the failure of the Oriental Bunk was received here haw now calmed down. Received May 8, 0.45 a.m. Melboubne, May 7. The trial of R. B. Fletcher, late mine manager at Sandhurst, on further charges of embezzlement was continued to-day, and again resulted in an acquittal of the prisoner.
