Meetings of Creditors
In eb Geobge Watts. The meeting of creditors m the above ' bankrupt's estate was held at the Court ' House yesterday at 10a.m. The assignee, Mr G. J. Scott, was present. The debtor i was examined and stated that his liabili- j ! ties were £39 2s 8d and his assets £5 in household furniture. He had borrowed fro.n a friend the money (£6) about to put him through the court. Cause of j bankruptcy — pressure of creditors in Patea. In be P. J. Cobnwall. No attendance of creditors. Liabilities were stated at £66 13s, assets £10, household furniture aad effects. In be James Mobbis. Messrs Lewers, and Kirton and Curtis, . creditors, were represented. Liabilities I were stated at £66 15s 4d, and tbe assets lat £45 17s. A clerical error discovered in the schedule raised the latter item to £65 17s. The bankrupt was examined at some length. Cause of bankruptcy — an nccidfint he received eight years ago and which laid him up for two years. j Has a wife and 10 children depending on him ; did not drink unless invited ; never spent money in drink that would stint them at home ; had not averaged in his . earnings 15s a week for three years ; had i a cow and two calves belonging to a Mr I Palmer for which he paid 5s per month and was to rear the calves ; had a few fruit trees but they were valueless. After a fow observations from the trustee • it was decided to give the bankrupt his . household furniture. &c, the fancy • goods, &c, to be disposed of by the j trustee.
