Feilding State School
An ordinary meeting of the Schtfpl Committee was held at the Schoqlhonse last evening. Present — Messrs. Sherwill (Chairman), Watts, Foster, Bray, Towler* Nicholas, and Rutherford. ?, The minutes-, of the previous meeting, were read and confirmed: .. A letter was received and read from* tbe School Inspector, re the examination of Misses Bartholomew and Prendergast; 1 also a letter from Mr Lankshear, re circular sent to parents. , The usual monthly report of the Master was received, which showed the.following-.— - A verage roll— Boys, 136; girls, 147 j total, 283. Average attendance— Boys, 94; girls, 114; total, 208. ''""''" Ifc was proposed by Mr Towler, and seconded by Mr Bray, That Miss Prendergast be recommended to fill, the vacancy caused by Miss Goodison's retirement. - Carried. *~: It was resolved, Tbat the Chairman write to the Education Board, asking them to purchase the section of land adjoining the school for a play ground. Messrs Sherwill and Rutherford were appointed to make arrangements for obtaining the use of a building, suitable for the accommodation of the scholars, during the time occupied in making the alterations to the school building. An application, from the contractors, was mado and granted, to remove the lobby at the entrance to the- boy's room. Accounts amounting to £10 7s 8d were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
