At the inquest on the body of Edwin Welcome, found in the harbor on Sunday morning, D. Murray Moore deposed that deceased had been subject to epileptic fits and was addicted to drink. Death appeared to have been caused by violence. Mabton, This Day. Six stacks of grain, belonging to James Beard, near Marton, were burned this morning. Loss, £250. No insurance. The origin of the fire is unknown. Ckbistchpbch, April 21. The dead body of a man, with a bullet wound in his head, was found in Hagley Park yesterday. From a letter found on his body, it appears deceased was John RoseweU. Invebcaboiix, This Day. Another extensive fire occurred in Tay-stteet this morning, when the Theatre Royal, Provincial Hoiel, and the old Catholic schoolroom were burnt down. Insurance on the hotel and theatre are — £250 in the £500 in the Colonial (£3OO reinsured), and £250 in the Australian Mercantile. The furniture was insured for £200 in the Royal, and £100 in the Union. The schoolhouse was also insured in the Union for £250. Blenheim, This Day. Thomas £11 ors Hiley, an old Marlborough resident, and formerly a wool scourer in a large way of business, was found dead in his house this morning. Deceased had been in bad circumstances lately and drinking heavily. Death is believed to have resalted from an epileptic fit brought on by excessive alcoholism. Wbllinoton, This Day. Rate Boyle, charged at the January sittings of the Supreme Court with infanticide, and found not guilty on the ground of insanity was to-day released from gaol on an order from His Excellency the Governor.
