Tiger Shooting by a Lady

The Hyderabad Telegraph says : "On Christmas day Col. and Mrs Upcher and Capt. Smyles ot tbe 2-tb South Wales Borderers, returned from a few days' shooting* in the jungles. Mrs Upcher, who had previously proved herself the hest nhot a r a target of all the. la- lies in Secunderab-id, and had shot several black buck in the Nizam* preserves, shot a large tigress dead with her first shot -at the beast, m it passed the rock she was standing on. She had only one *>hikary with her, whilst the two gentlemen had taken their stations on trees, a hundred yards or so to the right and left ot h--r. Such luck has seldom, if ever, fallen to the lot of a lady before. This is, we believe, the first authenticated owe on record uf a lady having shot a full-grown tiger or tigress single-handed, with her first shot on foot."
