The Earthquake

There was a sharp shock of earthquake felt here yesterday afternoon at 6.53. (PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wanganui, This Day. A smart shock of earthquake was experienced in Wanganui last evening, about ten minutes to 7 o'clock. Tho shock lasted nearly a minute and was pretty severe, but no damage was done. Wellington, This Day. The sharpest shock of earthquake felt here for years occured at ten minutes to 7 last night. It set all the firebells ringing, and was preceded for several seconds by a loud rumbling noise, with a slight vibration. Greymouth, This Day. A sharp shock of an earthquake was felt last evening at 7 o'clock. The motion seemed to be from north to south. Blenheim, This Day. A sharp shock of earthquake was felt here at 6.50 last night. It lasted seven seconds. Direction— north to south. No damage is reported. Masterton, This Day. A smart shock of earthquake was felt here at 10 minutes to seven last evening, accompanied by a noise. Westport, This Day. A very severe shock of earthquake was felt here at 6.57 last evening. It lasted over a minute, the direction being east to west. Nelson, This Day. A very severe shock of earthquake was experienced here at 10 minutes to 7 o'clock. Christchurch, This Day. here was a smart shock of earthquake at 6.50. p.m. last night. Hawera, This Day. Th re was a sharp shock of earthquake here at 6 50 last evening. Patea, This Day. A severe shock of earthquake was felt here at 6.50 last night.
