Post Office at Beaconsfield
A meeting of settlers' was held at the •choolhouse at Beaconsfield on Thursday last to take the steps necessary f e] > the Government to be induced to open a Post Office in that township. Mr A. FitsI Herbert was in the chair. ; A resolution was passed te the effect that a petition be prepared and signed bjj the residents interested, and forwarded to the Chief Postmaster, Wellington, 'through the Feilding Postmaster. Mr Cunningham has expressed his wiHingaes* to under* take the duties if th^e Government decides to accede to >he request. The petition will be completed and f orwaeded at an early date. It will b<r remembered that we made a movement in this direction some months ago, , and, we .are . pleased to see it again revived. v
