Court Reports
TO THE EDITOB OV THB STAB. Sib, — I noticed in your last issue a letter from Mr Suite, apologising for having accused me of sending an intentionally false report of the case Staite r Stuite, bnt at the same time charging me with having reported the ease incorrectly. Now, sir. the whole case did not occupy many moments, and was taken down by me almost verbatim, as follows :— " Theresa Staite made application fora prohibit on order against - her husband (W. S. Staite). _^,/ 5 " Mr Staite asked that the case should be heard by another magistrate^ on the following grounds: — First > that Mr Ward had made a previous order against. him; and, secondly, that he (Staite) had lodged objections to several of Mr Ward's judgments. :; " His Worship said he had no objection to this course, and the case was adjourned till Monday next, to be hoard before two J.P's." The case was also '. reported in the Palmers ton papers nearly word for word the same. I cannot compare it with yours as the report was suppressed. I notice that your correspondent does not point out a single particular in which my report was incorrect, and I challenge him to do so. — I am,; Ac, Advocate Bbtobtkb. Feilding. 27th March, 1884.
