A Sensational Suicide

A large number of suicides took place in Rome during- lasc year. One occurred, in Dec oiber last which caused a great sensatio: in the German colony at home. As such miserable wrong-doing is sure to bring its own punishment, the painter tired of the liaison, and, it is said, formed an engagement of marriage with another lady. Th« unhappy jounsf woman then shot herself in her ap rtment near the Capitol, from whence sue was taken in a dyin^ state, to the Hospital ol the Conaolazione, and died aft-r lingering out a few hours in great suffering. !he reason, she gave for her suicide was that bh/vhad no hope left in life— nothing more to l.ye for.
