Despatches to hand from Tonquin announce that the main body of the French army hare arrived before Bacninh and that two fort 8 in the vicinity of the town . have been captured and occupied by the French troops. London, March 11. The House of Commons passed a vote of credit of half-a-million sterling to cover the expense* of the British expedition to the Soudan. The Bepublique Francaise ridicules the protest ef the Australasian colonies against the recidivistes scheme, and says it is not worthy of being seriously discusiied. The farmers in Manitoba are agitating for separation from the Dominion of Canada, although they desire to xemnin a British colony. At the wool sales to-day 8,500 bales were offered. The market continues steady, but withoat active demand. The death is annouueed of William Blanchard Jerrold, author and journalist, aged 58.
