A Dreadful Death
FKIGHTFUL C(T SEQUENCES OF DKINK. To-day's Chronicle says : — A death under very •hocking circumstances was reported to the police yesterday. It appears that a man named Brown, who was always known to be fond of drink, received from Home a few months ago the sum of £500. On the receipt of the money he and his wife at once commenced a persistent course of heavy drinking. T'tey dnily consumed enormous quanti ties of beer, which appears to have been latterly what they principally lived on. Yesterdaj Mr Buck, a cooper, called at Brown's cottage, and having knocked and received no answer, opened the door andw.ent in. . He found Brown lying on the floor oitht brdrobm, and his wife on4n«hedin.a*tateof ma<i drunkenness, and une/MWcious of the miserable fate which had overtaken her husband..
