COMMERCIAL.
Wellington, February 29. Laery & Campbell report that there have been no transactions worth mentioning in farm produce during the past week. I lie items most worthy of notice are — Oats, which aie not nearly no firm as they were ; potato..-*, which are coining forward freely, and have suffered a decided fall in price; butter ban been more brisk than of late and l\d to 8d i has been realised for prime samples; onions, plentiful and slow of sale at £7 per ton; poultry supply slack; eggs, guaranteed fresh, realised la Bd. The fruit market is very much over supplied aud, in consequence, prices have been i low and a great deal of fruit will not keep. Cooking applps are unsaleable. One or two mobs of store sheep (merinos) have been placed, but the great craving among farmers seems to be for crossbreds. There was not a very heavy horse j market on Saturday, but the lots that j were quitted were quite up to owners' expectations. i
