Feilding Brass Band
(We are not responsibl -for the opinions*/ our Correspondents.) ■ ■ ■
TO THB EDITOR OF THE STAI. Sib,—l saw in the Marton paper some correspondence, le the Town Hal] for Easier Monday, and Queen's Birthday, and I certainly think IVlr John Turner has mnde a great mistake in accusing the Feeding Brass Band of monopoly. They aivfli orgio'zed body and were quite justified in taking the Hall for any time, and on the other band we hare to learn whether ibe-e is a Christie's Troupe in existence in Feilding or not. Admitting there is T fail to see why tbey should bare the prefei-ence. The Feilding Brass Band is a local institution got up for the townspeople, their instruments being investe.i in the town and the members paj. ing an entrance fee of one guinea and a sum per week to the fund, they receiving no benefit, but on the other hand are out of socket, be?ide:» the time tltey give, and the'efo'e are de^e-rlosf all encouragement; so it's plain if the b:md's entertainment is a success, the people of Feeding reap the benefit, and not the members. What bene6t would it be to the town if the Christie's had the ball? None. I should not haTe troubled you with this, bnc I tlvnk the townspeople should know the truth and that the Band is their own.—l am, &c. t ToWXSXAH.
