[PEB UNITED PBKPfI ASSOCIATION.! New Plymouth, This Day. A house ot Rahotu, belonging to W. R. Wright, was burnt down yesterday afternoon. It is stated to be insured for £200. Oaxabu. Thi« Day. A man named James Cook was drowned in the breakers opposite the town on Sunday afternoon. He was under the influ ence of liquor and went into the water to bithe with a portion of his cloths on. A breaker knocked him down and he was drowned. Gisbobnk, This Day. The South PaciEc Bore was down 460 feet on Saturday night. The strata is now chiefly papa rock. The gas is very troublesome.
