The Licensing Committee

♦ It is very gratifying to see the warm ! interest that is being taken in the election for a Licensing Committee, for which the polling will take place on Friday, the 22nd instant, at the Borough Council i office. Ten gefltlemen bare been nomin- ! ated. viz., Messrs iadk, Gichakd, S. ; GOODBEHEEE, HIOSIN, MACABTHUB, J. I C. Thompson, Nicholas, Ruthebford. ! Kangeb and Shebwill. We hare every 1 confidence that any fire of the abovenamed would form a most efficient committee. The ratepayers will have a most difficult lask in sdeclintr, where then* a c so many good men to choose from- They are all residents within the district an>l well-known to every resident in the Borough. Each will have his circle of supporters, so we may safe : y expect to witness an animated and interesting scene at the polling booth on Friday. Judging from the list of names, we have no four that any stromg p***J elen.«nt will be

infused into the m-oceedings. If such should be the case, however, we do not suppose that it will run very high ; anyway we do not anticipate any other than i the most orderly conduct on both sides. We hope that every ratepayer will osercise the privilege of voting. None of the candidates have declared as yet their intention to run on the Good Templar ticket, so we are completely in the dark a« to the intentions of that body. No ; doubt before our next issue we will have a declaration from some of the candidates of their opinions.
