A few days ago Messrs Seabrook^ and Arnott, builders, got three judgments against the Education Board for arrears for the erection of school buildings, for which cheques had -been given fiyemohtha ago. All this work was pufc licly tendered for and 76iper cent; waVto be paid in progress payments, of which the contractors received nothing. For several days attempts were made to put the bailiff in the Education Board offices, and take possession of the books -and sationery. but without avail, and -to-day the bailiff / walked into the State school, and now a man is in possession. The children-were sent home early in the afternoon. The contractors waited upon Sir O'Gibbes, the' representative' of : - the Government sent to the coast on this' matter, and he said that he could not promise that tbeir debts would be liquidated .before, Patliainent niet, and "thai then , they ' would ..' probably have ; to wait^ another five months.
