♦ [FEB UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.! Wellington, This Day. Mr Stoddard, of Hampden, an Otago settler, who has returned by the Aorangi, brought out with him 100,000 Loch Leren trout ova. The boxes have been opened here, and it is found that a considerable proportion are deal, some apprently having not been impregnated. The ova in one box, however, are in a fairly good condition, and will be forwarded to Otago by the Te Anau on Monday. Dunbdin, This Day. The Refrigerating Company have declared a dividend of 10 per cent. The Tablet states that Father Fynes has been elevated to the dignity of prelate, and appointed supernumerary chamberlain to the Pope in recognition of his administration of the Auckland diocese. Mastbbton, This Day. A six roomed cottage, owned by C. Gifford, of Napier, was .burnt with all its contents yesterday. The origin of the fire is unknown. The house was occupied by a man named Holloway and family The wife heard a crackling noise while in the bedroom. She ran to the kitchen to ascertain the cause, but the heat overhead was so great that she went out and saw the roof in flames. The* furniture was uninsured but the house was insured in the New Zealand for £125.
