HORSE SALE.

Messrs Halcombe and Sherwill report as follows of their monthly auction sale of horses held at Morphy's Horse Repesitorj on Saturday last :— The attendance was fair, and the bidding rather dull. Of the few lots quitted, hacks brought £3 to £14, draught* (old), £7 to £13.

I "Wellington. Jan. 12. Mr George Thomas reports fruit and produce prices as follows : — There is scarcely any alteration in the leading lines of grain. Flour still commands LlO 15s to Lll for sncks ; short oats 2s 6d, feed 2* 2d to 2s 3d ; oatmeal, dull at Lll 10s to Ll2; fowls' wheat, 3s; maize, very lieht demand, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; pollard and bran unsaleable m parcels, retail quotations, L 5 and L 4 respectively. Old potatoes are now quite out of the market, while the new crop is being so rapidly forwarded that the demand is not equal to the supply ; Sydney samples realise L 5, while Hutt and Onehunga kidney* move off at £6. Onions are quite a drug, j and many tons, costing shippers £9 through such large quantities being offered, are selling for £6 and £7. Eggs are easier, realising Is 4d ; bacon, 8d ; hams, lOd; fresh butter, quite neglected, and good samples selling at sd. The late holidays seem to have quite upset the fruit trade, and auction sales held during the week have been but poorly attended, Kentish cherries finding few purchasers at 3s 6d to 4s ; plums, 5s to 6s 6d ; apples, American, 18s ; new ueason's, 6s ; black currants, 7s 6d ; gooseberries, 2d ; fowls, 3s; ducks 3s. 9d to 4s ; geese, 5s per pair.
