The Otamakapua Block
A meeting of Natives was held at the Hon Kou on the 11th instant in reference to the Otamnkapua Block, concerning the title to which the Native Land Court gave its decision four years ago, but the Maoris were unable to settle abont the division of the purchase money amongst the six tribes interested. The meeting had been convened by TXtiku Potaka who issued notices t j all the persons interested. The different tribes or hapvs were all represented, and the talking began at noon. After hearing the various speakers, the different hapusNrttimatelj came to a decision on Saturday night as to the money. TTtiku Potaka submitted for the approval of the different tribes assembled the conclusion he came to about the division of the money. After a good deal of talk and bonuee, the six principal tribes agreed to the* proposal submitted by TTtiku Potaka. ThU is a statement of the division:— Ngafcthauiti, £] 0,000; Ngaiiwhite, £3,500; Ngatetama, £3,500; JN'gatituepokoiri, £9,000; Ngatihinemanu, £19,000 ; Aprihama Tipai, £1,000; Ngatitumokai, £6,000. The above tribes all agreed except Aprihama Tipai to the above division. Satana, from Parewanui, represented Aprihama Tipai. He said he would take nothing less than ten thousand pounds, and his name put in the reserve lease of Otamakapua. — Advocate.
