Shocking Cruelty to Animals
[P. B UNITED PBBBS ABBOC ATION ] Wangamti, This Day. At the sitting of the Police Court thin morning a settler Darned Thos Hollywood was fined £10 for cruelty ill-treating a horse by over-riding. Evidence went to show that the defendant was drunk, and rode a horse (old racer named Astronomer) to such an extent that it fell down on the road from pure exhaustion. The aides of the po«r brute were lacerated with st rrups, and the man was seen hitting him over tiie head with a riding whip to make him go when he could hardly more. _^
