DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. BEUTEB . TELEGBAMS. Received January 10, 1.5 a.m. S . dne- . January 9. Captain Lancaster, of the brig John Wesley, from the South Sea Islands, reports having seen the American schooner Greyhound, of San Francisco, ashore at Manuka with the loss' of her , udder and false keel. Later intelligence from Hawaii states that the Greyhound was floated off and safely anchored at Levuka. Melbourne. January 8. Messrs C. S. Ross & Co., of this city, report the sale of kauri timber ex Jules VJarie at the following average prices per one hundred feet : — Super, hewn logs lis 6d; sawn flitches, 12s 9d. The market is weaker. This Day. A disastrous fire occurred this morning at the Apollo Candle Company's Works, Footscray. The whole premises were almost totally destroyed, and the loss is very heavy. The supply of water was deficient, and it was consequently almost impossible to check the spread of the flames.
