PAPAPA is by Uavcnsworth (imported) out of '\ aimea, by Sir Hercules — Flora Mclvor, by Emigrant (imported) — Cornelia, by Grasshopper — Manto (imported ) Kavensw.orth by Touchstone— Fair Jean, by Verulam— Fair Ellen, bv Panta oon. See New Zealand Stud Book for full pedigree. Papapa is a dark chestnut, standing 15 hands 3 inches high, with creat length, substance, and quality, and was one of the fastest horses that ever raced in New Zealand. At the Christchurch meeting in 1873 he ran second tc the celebrated Lurline in the Canterbury Cup, 2\ miles, in 4m. Bs., carrying 7st. 21bs., as a three-year-old. Lurline, 4yrs., Bst. Wbs.; Tambourini, 9st. 6lbs. ; Malvina, Bst. 9lbs. ; and Templeton, 7st. 2lbs., also ran. Papapa won the Christchurch Derby in 2m. 44|s. beating Castaway (own brother to Lurline), Templeton, and Traitor. At Auckland won the Auckland Turf Club Cup, with 7st. 81 bs., 2 miles, in 3m. 455. Yatterina, 7st. 121b5., second. Parawanui, Hatred, and Black Eagle also ran. Papapa also walked over for the Railway Stakes, and won the Thames Plate, 7st. slbs., 2 miles, in 3m. 555., beating Hatred, 9st. '71bs. Teems. — Single mare, £5 55. ; two or more, as per agreement. Papapa will be at Feilding on Mondays, Palmerston on ■'. Tuesdays, Foxton on Wednesdays, Oroua Downs on Thursdays, Sandon on Fridays, and Bulls on Mondays. For further particulars apply to D. Tic also won the Turakina Handicap Hurdle Eace, beating a large, field. He also ran a good third for the Wan^anui Grand National Steeplechase, currying 12st. 7lbs., giving the winner, Enahuie, Ist. slbs., and the second horse. Dhudeen, 2st. 51bs, thereby showing that he is a weightcarrier, and has exceptionally good st ying power. Diomedes was also awarded first prize at the Wanganui A. and P. Association Show as a hire best calculated tjy improve the breed of saddle horses. Tebms: Single mares, £4; two or more the bona fide property of one owner, £b 10s each. On Monday to Sandon and Oroua Downes, Tuesday at Awahuri and Palmerston, Friday at Turakina, and the remainder of the week at Bulls. Paddocking provided at Bulls, at 2s per week.
