Feilding Borough Council

An ordinary meeting of the. Council "was held in the Council Chamber on Thursday evening last. Present—The - Mayor and Crs Goodbehere, Louden, ' Xuth'erford, Thompson and Worsfold. The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting were read and confirmed. . The monthly report of the Inspector of Nuisances was read and adopted. The monthly report of the Borough Poundkeeper was also read and adopted. Cr Loudon moved, and Cr Goodbehere seconded, That the sum of £5 be separated from the ordinary fund for petty cash. — Carried. : The .subject of the registration of dogs and the colleettea of the d«g tax within the Borough was then discussed. Cr Loudon moved, That Mr Bray, collector of dog tax for the Oroua County, be requested to «ct as deputy dog tax : collector for the borough at 2« per dog for eaeh dog registered through him. This was seconded by Cr Goodbehere. Cr Thompson moved, as an amendment, That applications for the post of dog tax collector be advertised for. This was seconded bj Cr Worsfold. The amendment was put and two votes A were given in it* favor. The original atotioa was pat and carried.* . The Mayor read a telegram from Mr littckie, Conimifiawjner of the Life Insuraiioe Department,' re the matter of the .£2,090 of the borough Joan, applied for to that department. - The telegram read : — ** Special rate leaves no margin. Think it pWbable the Department would take «p whole sum at 2 per cent, discount. I will recommend that £2,000 worth of - debentures be taken earlj this month." Cr Loudon saggested that the Major *h«uld visit Wellington in order to interview the Commissioner of Insurance with a vieir to facilitate the matter of getting ..the money.
