Stud Notices. TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON. That Splendid and Powerful Clydesdale Horse, GENEEAL HAVELOCK. C\ ENEEAL HAVELOCK is a dark vJT brown horse, rising five years old, and stands 17 hands high, with immense muscular power, splendid action, and a good temper, and is pronounced by competent judges to be tlie best draught horse ever bred in the province of Marlborough. General Haveloek is out of the Clydesdale mare Majigie by Taieri. Taieri was bred by Donald Grant, E>q., Kirklands, West Ttiieri, and is out of the Clydesdale mare Gentle by Comet. General Havelock's dam was shown in 1878 at the Marlborough Agricultui-al Society's Show and took first prize against all comers. General Haveloek will be at the undermentioned places: — Awnhuri and Feilding on Mondays, Sandon on Tuesdays, Oampbelltown and Foxton on Thursdays, and at Taonui street, Palmerston North on aturdays. X^APAPA is by Eavensworfch (impori ted) out of Waimea, by Sir Hercules — Flora Mclvor, by Emigrant (imported) — Cornelia, by Grasshopper-— Man to (imported.) Eavensworth by Touchstone — Fair Jean, by Venilam — Fair Ellen, by Panta oon. See New Zealand Stud Book for full pedigree. Papapa is a dark chestnut, standing 15 hands 3 inches high, witli great length, substance, ;ind quality, and was one of the fastest horses that ever raced in New Zealand. At the Ohristchurch meeting in 1873 he ran second tc the celebrated Lurline in the Canterbury Cup, 2J miles, in 4m. Bs., carrying <7st. 21bs., as a three-year-old. Lurline, 4yrs., Bst. Wbs.; Tambourini, 9st. 6lbs. ; Malvina, Bst. 9lbs. ; and Templeton, 7st. 2lbs., also ran. Papapa won the Christchurch Perby in 2m. 44£s. beating Cas(away (own brother to Lurline), Templeton, and Traitor. At Auckland won the Auckland Turf Club Cup, with 7st. 81b5.,2 miles, in 3m. 455. Yatterina, 7st. 121b5., second. Parawanui, Hatred, and Hack Eagle also ran. Papapa also walked over for the Eailway Stakes,; and won the Thames Plate, 7st. slbs^2 miles, in 3m. 555., beating Hatred, ■ 9st. 7lbs. Terms. — Single mare, £5 ss. ;two or more, as per agreement.
