The police authorities deny that precautions have been taken to prevent a . Fenian attack upon London Bridge or Newgate gaol. They, however, admitted that a strict watch against suspicious characters is kept at Hawarden Castle, and that the police guard has been strengthened at the Premier's seat. Pahiß, December 19. The report gains credence here that Sontay has been evacuated by the native garrison, and was occupied without opposition by the French troops, who advanced against it on the 12th inst. Melboubne. Dec. 20. Sailed- Yesterday afternoon, the Manapouri for the Bluff. Arrived— This morning, the Tarawera from the Bluff.
