Stud Notices. TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON. That Splendid and Powerful Clydesdale Horse, GENERAL HAVELOCK. GENERAL HAVELOCK is a dart brown horse, rising fire years old, and stands 17 hands high, with immense muscular power, splendid action, and a good temper, and is pronounced by competent judges to be the best draught horse ever bred in the province of Marlborough. General Havelook is out of tbe Clydesdale mare Maggie by Taieri. Taieri was bred by Donald Grant, Esq., Kirklands, West Taieri, and is out of the Clydesdale mare Gentle by Comet. General Havelock's d.im was shown in 1878 at the "Marlborough Agricultural Society's Show and took first prize ngainst all comers. General Harelock will be at the undermentioned places: — Awahuri and Feilding on Mondays, Sandon on Tuesdays, Campbelltown and Foxton on Thursdays, and at Taonui street, Palmerston North on aturdays. PAPAPA is by Ravensworth (imported) out of Waimea, by Sir Hercules—Flora Mclvor, by Emigrant (imported)— Cornelia, by Grasshopper — Manto (imported ) Ravensworth by Touchstone — Fair Jean, by Verulam — Fair Ellen, by Panta oon. See New Zealand Stud Book for full pedigree. _ Papapa is a dark chestnut, standing 15 hands 3 inches high, with great length, substance, and quality, and was one of the fastest horses that ever raced in New Zealand. At the Christohurch meeting in 1873 he ran second tc the celebrated Lurline in the Canterbury Cup, 2|- miles, in 4m. Bs., carrying 7st. 21bs., as a three-year-old. Lurline; 4yrs., Bst. fibs.; Tambourini, 9st. 6lbs. ; Malvina, Bst. 91b5..; and Templeton, 7st. 2lbs., also ran. Papapa won the Christchurch Derby in 2m. 44£s. beating Castaway (own brother to Lurline), Templeton, and Traitor. At Auckland won the Auckland Turf Club Cup, with 7st. Blbs., 2 miles, in 3m. 455. Yatterina, 7st. 121b5., second. Parawanui, Hatred, and Hlack Eagle also ran. Papapa also walked over for the Railway Stakes, and won the Thames Plate, 7st. 6lbs., 2 miles, in 3m. 555., beating Hatred, 9st. 71bs. Teems. — Single mare, £5 55. ; two or more, as per agreement. Diomedes won the 'Wanganui Welter Weielit-for-age Hurdle Race, beating Reform, New Qear, Dhudeen, and several other celebrated horses, i He also won the Turakina Handicap Hurdle Race, .beating a large field. He also ran a good third for tlie Wanganui Grand National Steeplechase, carrying 12st. 71bs., giving the winner, Ruahine, Ist. slbs., and the second horse, Dhudeen, 2st. slbs., thereby showing tbat he is a weightcarrier, and has exceptionally good: st ying power. .'
