Inquest on Mr Dawson's Body
SAD DETAILS. VERDICT OF ACCIDENTAL DEATH. (PKE UNITED PEESS ASSOCIATION.) Ashbuetox, Tliis Day. At the inquest on M r A. Dawson, the evidence given by bis brothers and bro-thers-in-law was to the effect that the deceased was warned of the danger in bathing from the beach, but he disre« garded it. They could render no assistance, as when he got into the breakers, he was carried away by a strong undercurrent and disappeared from view. A verdict of accidental death was returned. The body will be buried to-mor-row at Waterton, with Masonic honors. It is expected there will be a very large attendance as Mr Dawson's father is an old settler in the country, and greatly respected. Much sympathy is felt for him in his sad bereavement. [As a mark of public respect for the late Mr Dawson, all places of business in Feilding will be closed tomorrow afternoon, from 2 o'clock till 4, at which time his funeral takes place at Waterton, Athburton, as notified above by telegram.]
