*■ [PEB UNITED PBEBS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington. This Day. An elderly woman named Hamlin died in the hospital under peculiar circumstances Inst night. She is a resident of Stokes Valley, Upper Hutt, and on the 30th ult., when entering her house, a lad fired a gun. There wai no shot in the gun but the powder lodged in her left arm above the wrist. Amputation was found necessary, but the poor old lady succumbed under the operation, aged 70. It is not yet known under what circumstances the gun was fired. The police have cone out.
