I i That Splendid and Powerful Clydesdale Horse, GENEEAL HAVELOCK. i^i ENEEAL HAVELOCK is a dark \JT brown horse, rising five years old, and stands 17 hands high, with immense muscular power, splendid action, and a pood temper, and is pronounced by competent judges to be the best draught horse ever bred in the province of Marlbnrough. General Havelock is out of the Clydesdale marc Maggie by Tuicri. T.-nori w;is bred by Donald Grant, E-q., Kirkliinds, West T.'iieri, and is out of the Clydesdale mare Gentle by Loniet. Papapa is a dark chestnut, standing 15 hands 3 inches high, with great length, substance, and quality, and was one of the fastest horses that ever raced in New Zealand. At the Christchurch meeting in 1873 he ran second tc the celebrated Lurline in the Canterbury Cup, 2i miles, in dm. Bs., carrying 7at. 2lbs., as a three-year-old. Lurline, 4yrs., Bst. Wbs. ; Tambourini, 9st. 6lbs. ; Malvina, Bst. 9lbs. } and Temploton. 7st. '21bs., also ran. Papapa won the Christchurch Perby in 2m. 4>4\s. beating Castaway (own brother to Lurline), Templeton, and Traitor. At Auckland won the Auckland Turf Club Cup, with 7st. Blbs.,2miles, in 3m. 455. Yatterina, 7st. 121b5., second. 1^ Parawanui, Hatred, and Black Eagle also ran.
