It recommends the annexation of New Guinea, as far as that oountry is nnclaimed by Holland. Ii is ; proposed , that .. an effeotive guarantee; :.. should be givea by the Australasian Colonies for their share in the cost by <-• • Permanent Appropriation Acts according y to population. It also declares that there \ i» no intention of placing Britain in a ; position of hostility to foreigners in the Pa cific. Stuart and Atkinsoii have tele- ' graphed to London for "details of matters now before the Conference. '.. The Melbourne Argus has published • ; special telegram, Btating that; ths Con* vention has agreed to the principle of applying the Imperial Enabling Act to ,y fix the formation of a Federal Union of the Australian Colonies.
