Feilding Horticultural Show

* ;■ •— We need hardly call attention to the annual spring show of. the Manchester Horticultural and Pastoral Society, which takes place in the Town Hall to-morroW. The institution ia so thoroughly established and is so popular throughout the distriot, that everybody looks forward to its spring , and autumn exhibitions with consider-. 1 able interest, and with most pleasurable anticipations. Iv consequence of the almost unparalleled coldness aiid backwardness of the season it can hardly be expected that the exhibits in either flowers, fruits, t>r vegetables* willbe anything like those seen at previous shows. StiU we should not be surprised to find that many visitors will be most agreeably disappointed in y this respect. It is not common for persons who are about to exhibit, specimens for local competition to talk much about them and invite views oif them before-hand, as they generally . conceive an intention ta "astonish the natives," and we are inclined to think that this laudable ambition may _aye had much to do with the silence that ] has prevailed this season, especially aay to what is likely to appear at the show. Any falling off, however, whioh there may. be in contributions 'from the jvegetable kingdom will fortunately, as it happens, be amply made, tip by the \ innovation which will be introduced to-morrow in the shape of the poultry 7 show. This will of itself be sufficient ' to cause considerable attraction, as wo^ understand a large number of exhibits wiR be entered, and amongst them aro likely to be some very fine specimens. Some very good prizes are offered, and the competition in this department is sure to be very keen. Every effort v has been pnt forth to make tiie! day's \ proceedings a success, and as enjoy- . able as possible to the visitors, wid with this, view the Feilding Town Band will perform a selection of music during the evening, as follows :—: " " ■ i '- h '■...■'■■,'!■: .- *.: J :-...-' ;.:■ y *;■ ,-.•<;- , MUSICAL PBOGBAMME. 1.
