Trout in the Oroua.

We mentioned in our last issue that Mr Brewer had promised to forward to Mr Sherwill a quantity of youug trout, to bs put into the Oroua Riper. These duly arrived by the noon train yesterday, and and were apparently in good condition. When examined, only one or two were dead, nnd several others looked somewhat sickly, tho great majority, which numbered upwards of 200, were, however, lively and strong, and looked well able to take care of themselves. The vessel containing them wa* nt once placed in a buggy, and Mr Sherwill and party drove np to Menzie's Bridge on tbe Ashurst road — the nearest point to reach the Oroua a iov© the influx of the Kiwitea Stream. Leaving the trap at Mr Menzie's place, the services of the latter gentlemen were promptly tendered, and as promptly accepted, as guide to a fitting place in li which to commit the fish to the river. A walk of a few hundred yard* discovered a well sheltered pool, on the west si c of the river, that appeared to be admirably adapted for the purpose, and a short deliberation decided that a more favorable situation could not be found. With all possible care Mr Sherwill _üb--merged the fish bucket into the water, and the occupants made speedy exit from it into the depths below. A few were uncertain in their movements, but after a few moments t_ey appeared to recover theniselTes and " made tracks" after the others. We hope they will escape the many danger oas enemies they will be environed by, and that their progeny may populate the Oroua and all its tributary streams with fine healthy trout for tbe delictation of future disciples of the immortal Isaac Walton.
