Mr Sherwill was the only gentleman nominated, being proposed by Mr Leth bridge (retiring Mayor) and seconded by Mr Kirton. Mr Sherwill was declared by the Town Clerk duly elected. He heartily thanked these present, and through tbem the burgesses fenerally for the honor conferred upon im, and expreasei his hope that he would be able to fulfil the duties, of HM> Mayoralty satisfactorily to all, and that at the end of the term there wonld be no occasion for regretting his election.
