General Havrloek's dam was shown in 1878 al the Marlborouuh Ajiricultuinl Society's Show and took <irst prize against all comers. Papapa is a dark chestnut, standing 15 hands 3 inches high, with greatlength, substance, and quality, and was one of the fastest horses that ever raced in New Zealand. At the Christchurch meeting in 1873 he ran second tc the celebrated Lurline in the Cauterbury Cup, 2} miles, in 4m. Bs., carrying 7st. 2lbs., as a three-year-old. Lurline, lyrs., Bst. Vlbs.; Tambourini, 9st. Olbs.; Malvina, Bst. Olbs. ; and Templcfon, 7st. 2lbs., also ran. Papapa won the Christchurch Pcrby in 2ui. 44gs. beating Castaway (own brother to Luriine), Tompleton, and Iraitor. At Aucklund won the Auckland Turf Club Cup, with 7st. 81b5.,2 miles, in 3m. 455. Yalterina, 7st. 121 bs., second. Parawanui, Hatred, and I'lnck Eagle also ran. Dionjedos won the Wanganui Welter Wt-ight-for-age Hurdle Race, beating Reform, Now Qear, Dhudeen, and several other celebrated horses. He also won the Turakina Handicap Hurdle Race, beating a large field. He also ran a good third for the Wanganui Grand National Steeplechase, carrying 12st. 71bs., giving the winner, Ruahine, Ist. olbs., and the second horse, Dhudeen, 2st. slbs. , thereby showing 1 hat he is a weightcarrier, and has exceptionally good st yine power. Diomedes was also awarded first prize at the Wanganui A. and P. Association Show as a sire best calculated to improve the breed of saddle horses. Teems : Single mares, £4 ; two or more the bona fide property of one owner, £3 10s each. On Monday to Sandon and Oroun Downes, Tuesday at Awahuri and Palmerston, Friday at Turakina, and the remainder of the week at Bulls. PaJdocking provided at Bulls, at 2s per week.
