An Explanation.

(ADVEBTISEMEIST.) TO THK HDITOB OF THB BTAB. Sib,— On Saturday, the 3rd instant, j appeared the following among your local j and general news :—" On Tuesday last [ Drs Lij-htbourne and Curl performed a very delicate operation on a man named Geghren. Some few years ago the patient had his skull fractured by a kick from a horse, and the bones were allowed to remain with a considerable depression on the brain. As the evil effects of this were daily becoming painfully apparent, the operation of trepanning became necessary. This was most successfully performed by the medical men named, and Geghren i is not likely again to experience any inconvenience from the accident." I contradict tbe above as an untrue and foolish report. It is trne I have had an operation, but not oecause of a depression of bones on the brain, neither to prevent "evil effects which were daily becoming more apparent." The scar which I carried 15 years on my forehead did not in the least affect my health, or cause " depression on the brain." The reason of my operation was to make the scar level and less visible, and to regain the look of my face for my own pride. Whoever brought that report to you would do better to mind his owa business, and not use my name in a foolish manner in the newspapers. Ho shows plainly enough that he himself is affected with depression of the brain. I£ his brain were as free from " depression" and " evil effects" as mine, them wWld he see that by giving you such a foolish report he made himself worse than any tyrant in existence. If he has any objection to this contradiction, then he may be good enough to explain himself in the paper next issue and* sign his name. If the sender of that ioolish report -is silent in Thursday's paper, please publish my letter again on Saturday. lam agreeable to pay whatever you charge. Please publish it with the wrong name as given in the report, to that I appear as "Gxghben."
